A Three Part Series on Climate Change
& Sustainability in Saskatchewan

Time for Change

The evidence is mounting that we are living on a changing planet; still recognizable but fundamentally different. We can't rely on old habits any longer and our hope depends on mitigation and adaptation. Join us for an informative series that will provide a starting point to make climate change impacts part of your future planning whether you are a young person, in business, agriculture, forestry, or manufacturing, or a concerned parent or senior.

All presentations begin at 7 pm in the auditorium. Poster here.

Living on New Earth October 15
Living on the New Earth in a Changing Climate
Climate Change Reality presenter Dianne Rhodes launches our series. After a presentation, she will show Bill McKibben's 350.org video "Do the Math" and then lead an interactive discussion on how we can join the movement to change the math of climate change and challenge the fossil fuel industry.

Agriculture and Forestry October 29
Agriculture and Forestry in a Changing Climate
What kind of Saskatchewan climate can we expect in the future for the 2020s, 2050s and 2080s? How will changing climate impact your farming operation, business, recreation and environment? Elaine Wheaton and Mark Johnston, Saskatchewan Research Council scientists, will address the environmental and economic impacts of climate change on Saskatchewan ecosystems, agriculture, forestry and tourism. In order to plan adaptations and consider the best sustainable energy options, we need to understand what is going on.

Rethinking Power November 12
Rethinking Power in a Changing Climate
Mark Bigland-Pritchard, sustainable energy consultant, will critique both Canada and Saskatchewan’s ability to meet international commitments and domestic targets made at recent international climate conferences and present the policy priorities required for both jurisdictions to meet their carbon-reduction targets. Mark will also set out a plan for turning Saskatchewan’s energy supply carbon-neutral.
